Nickel Felt

THT nickel felt is manufactured using high-purity nickel fibers from 6 -40 um in diameter. Through a precision nonwoven felting process, in which the nickel fibers are needled and layered, followed by high-temperature vacuum sintering to form a monolithic structure.
Our nickel felt features a three-dimensional mesh structure with uniform pore size , high porosity, controllable microporous dimensions, and a large specific surface area. It has following characteristics:

  • Excellent corrosion resistance: Stable in alkaline, oxidizing, humid, and various corrosive chemical environments;
  • High-temperature stability: Maintains stable performance at 1000°C;
  • High electrical and thermal conductivity: Low electrical resistance and rapid heat transfer;
  • Excellent water and gas permeability: Three-dimensional, uniform porosity ensures stable water and gas fluxes and minimizes clogging;
  • High heat dissipation efficiency: Rapid heat exchange between the electrode and heat sinks;

How to Identify Nickel?

1. Spectrometer Testing

Using an XRF fluorescence spectrometer or a direct-reading spectrometer, it is possible to directly determine whether the metal contains nickel and to measure its purity.

2. Density Calculation Based on Dimensions and Weight

Measure the sample’s dimensions, volume, and precise weight to calculate the material’s actual density. The standard density of pure nickel is 8.9 g/cm³. If the calculated density deviates significantly from this value, it indicates that the material is contaminated with large amounts of impurity metals such as iron and copper.

3. Chemical Spot Test

Moisten a cotton swab with dimethylglyoxime testing solution and rub it continuously on the metal surface for 30 seconds; if the swab turns a distinct pink or bright red, the material can be determined to contain nickel.

4.Magnet Test

Bring a magnet close to the sample. Pure nickel and nickel alloys exhibit weak magnetism and will be slightly attracted by the magnet; the strength of this attraction is far lower than that of strongly magnetic materials such as iron and ferritic stainless steel, making this a useful method for rapid preliminary screening.
