MMO Tubular Anode

THT MMO tubular anode is coated with a layer of electrocatalytic metal oxides (such as RuO2/IrO2 or IrO2/TaO2) on a titanium tube, thereby enhancing its performance in applications such as cathodic protection and wastewater treatment:

  • Enhanced Electrochemical Activity
  • Improved Stability of the Anode
  • Improved Current Transmission
  • Prevent Pollution and Corrosion
  • Substrate:Pure Gr1 titanium seamless tube meet Standard ASTM B338
  • Noble metal oxide coating:Depending on the specific application (cathodic protection or wastewater treatment), working environmental (soil, fresh water, seawater, concrete, or other harsh chemical environments), pH , current requirements, and expected service life, our laboratory will tailor the appropriate coating thickness and noble metal oxide coating ratio. Commonly used coatings include ruthenium-iridium mixed oxide coating and iridium-tantalum mixed oxide coating.

Low Resistance: MMO tubular anodes have extremely low resistance, ensuring stable current output and reduced energy consumption.

Cost-effective: Easy to install and maintain, resulting in approximately 15% lower costs compared to other sacrificial anodes.

Dimensionally stable: Electrode spacing remains constant throughout the electrolysis process.

Lightweight/Durable: Long lifespan and significantly lighter weight compared to sacrificial anodes.

Deep well cathodic protection MMO Tubular Anode

Deep well cathodic protection

In areas where the soil resistivity is relatively high, titanium anode tubes are installed in boreholes drilled vertically from the surface. Deeper layers of the earth have lower resistivity, and with appropriate voltage, the protective current emitted by the deep well anode will evenly distribute along the protected pipeline network.

Structure of deep well anode: It consists of an outer casing and inner tubular titanium anodes, which are filled with porous coke particles in between to ensure efficient current distribution on the anode surface. Proper installation of a ventilation system reduces the risk of gas buildup

Wastewater Treatment

Titanium anode tubes are not only used for pipeline connections due to their corrosion resistance but also undergo electrolytic oxidation under the influence of current and voltage, generating hypochlorite, chlorine gas, or ozone, thereby reducing COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand). In the electrolytic reduction process, titanium anode tubes serve as the anode, reducing metal cations in wastewater to the surface of the anode, thus removing heavy metals such as copper, nickel, and chromium from the wastewater. Titanium anode tubes can be employed in the electrochemical desalination process to remove salt ions (such as chloride ions, sulfate ions, etc.) from wastewater through electrolysis, achieving desalination and purification of the wastewater. In some specific wastewater treatment processes, titanium anode tubes can also be used to adjust the pH of wastewater, neutralizing acidic or alkaline substances.

Why should we choose MMO/Ti tubular anodes?

  • Corrosion Resistance: MMO/Ti tubular anodes utilize titanium as the substrate, coated with noble metal oxides (MMO), providing excellent corrosion resistance. This means they can be used for extended periods in various harsh environments, such as high-acidity environments, seawater containing chlorides, or soil.
  • Stable Current Output: MMO/Ti tubular anodes can provide a stable current output, which is crucial for cathodic protection systems. They ensure that metal structures are adequately protected, preventing corrosion and damage.
  • Longevity: Due to their corrosion resistance and stable performance, MMO/Ti tubular anodes have a longer lifespan. This translates to fewer maintenance requirements and lower maintenance costs.
  • High Efficiency: With the presence of noble metal oxides, MMO/Ti tubular anodes exhibit excellent electrochemical activity, enhancing the efficiency of cathodic protection systems and saving energy and costs.
  • Versatility: MMO/Ti tubular anodes can be applied in various applications, including cathodic protection in different environments such as soil, seawater, freshwater, concrete structures, and in fields like wastewater treatment.
Could you also provide Mixed Metal Oxides (MMO) Coated Tubular Anode String?

Yes, we could also provide it.

What is coating thickness for mmo tubular anode?

Normally we customize based on clients speicifcation, most often thickness range is 4-12um.

Could you provide installing and technical service?

Yes, we have engineering team and support you about it.

Which one is better, sacrificial anode or impressed current cathodic protection system

Sacrificial anodes are suitable for small-scale or relatively simple corrosion protection tasks, while impressed current cathodic protection systems are suitable for larger-scale corrosion protection tasks and complex industrial environments. The specific choice will depend on project requirements, budget constraints, and environmental conditions.

What is cathodic protection coating?

Cathodic protection coatings are noble metal oxide coatings, primarily comprised of Ir-Ru mixed coating and Ir-Ta mixed coating.
