Our titanium baskets mainly consists of titanium plates, titanium mesh, hooks, reinforcing ribs, handles, etc., which are completed through processes such as cutting, welding, bending, and grinding. The core material is titanium mesh, so it is also called titanium mesh basket. Generally, titanium baskets are not coated, but in some special acidic or alkaline environments, we can apply a layer of precious metal oxide, such as ruthenium-iridium, iridium-tantalum, or platinum, on the titanium basket, which is then called a titanium anode basket. We can also provide titanium basket bags made of PP or PE materials, depending on the specific acidic or alkaline environment.

Besides titanium basket, zirconium basket, niobium basket, tantalum basket also could customize accordingly.

THT has team to help design and make drawing for titanium basket accordingly.When designing titanium basket several factors need to be considered to ensure performance and durability:

  1. Generally, the current density for hooks outside of water should not exceed 0.24A/mm2, and for hooks submerged in water, the current density should not exceed 1.5A/mm2. Exceeding these limits can cause the hooks to heat up, leading to an increase in plating solution temperature, increased cooling requirements, wasted energy, and even potential damage to plastic tanks due to overheating.
  2. Titanium basket hooks should not make flat or circular contact with the electrodes, as this can result in poor contact, leading to spot corrosion on the electrodes.
  3. Corrosion environment: The corrosive environment in which the titanium basket will be used needs to be taken into account. The size of the basket should be chosen to withstand the corrosive effects of the environment and provide long-term durability.
  4. Mechanical strength: The titanium basket should be designed with sufficient mechanical strength to withstand any stresses encountered during handling, installation, and operation. This ensures the integrity of the basket structure and prevents premature failure.
  5. Ease of maintenance and installation: The design should facilitate easy maintenance and inspection of the titanium basket. This may include considerations such as access to internal components, ease of cleaning, and the ability to replace parts if necessary,easy to connection .

THT titanium basket is widely used in electroplating, for example:

Titanium baskets are primarily used as fixtures in electroplating equipment. During nickel plating, titanium basket is filled with nickel cakes as the anode, while the cathode is the item being plated. In copper plating, copper balls are placed in the titanium basket as the anode, with the cathode being the item being plated. When a direct current is applied, the anode inside the titanium basket dissolves, but due to titanium’s strong stability, it remains unaffected. Titanium baskets are also utilized in surface treatment and various electronic devices, such as in the flexible and rigid PCB industries for gold plating or blackening processes.

To maintain the longevity and efficient use of titanium baskets, it’s important to consider the following:

  1. If titanium basket hooks are noticeably overheating, consider increasing the number of titanium baskets or enlarging the cross-sectional size of the titanium basket hooks to improve electrical conductivity.
  2. Ensure that the mouth of the titanium basket is positioned 30-40mm above the liquid level to prevent anode slag from overflowing.
  3. Position the lower end of the titanium basket 100-150mm above the parts (consider installing a baffle near the liquid level side) to avoid excessive concentration of parts at the lower end, which may cause scorching.
  4. Ensure tight contact between the titanium basket and the anode; otherwise, a sharp increase in the anode potential on the titanium basket surface may lead to oxygen and chlorine evolution reactions, causing damage to the titanium basket and oxidation of additives.
  5. Securely enclose the mouth of the titanium basket with the titanium basket bag, leaving a few centimeters of space at the bottom to accommodate any anode sludge that may accumulate.
  6. Regularly clean the titanium basket and the titanium basket bag, ideally every two weeks to a month, and promptly replace damaged titanium basket bags to ensure that the plating solution and tank remain uncontaminated.
  7. Timely replenish anode materials to prevent titanium from being easily corroded when nickel levels are insufficient.

How you pack titanium basket?

To ensure safety and stability during transportation, the inner packaging includes foam plastic or plastic film, and filler is added inside the packaging box. The external packaging is a standard wooden crate.
