Pure Titanium Plate
THT pure titanium plates mainly include common pure titanium plates such as Gr1 titanium plate, Gr2 titanium plate, Gr3 titanium plate, and Gr4 titanium plate. Their differences mainly lie in the varying impurity elements, resulting in slightly different mechanical properties. Currently, our company’s highest-selling industrial-grade titanium plates are Gr1 and Gr2, while Gr4 is mainly used for medical purposes.
Among them, the low-oxygen ultra-high-purity titanium plate typically has an oxygen content of 0.1% or less, and can even reach ppm (parts per million) levels. The purity levels are 99.9%, 99.99%, and 99.999%. They are primarily used in core industries such as semiconductor sputtering targets, aerospace, and marine petroleum. Ultra-high purity titanium serves as an important raw material guarantee for China’s independent large aircraft projects

Application
- Aerospace grade pure titanium sheet: Utilized in aerospace applications such as manufacturing aircraft structural components, missile casings, etc.
- Medical grade pure titanium sheet: Utilized in medical device manufacturing, including artificial joints, implantable scaffolds, etc.
- Chemical grade pure titanium sheet: Utilized in chemical equipment manufacturing, such as reactors, storage tanks, etc.
- Seawater grade pure titanium sheet: Exhibits high corrosion resistance in seawater but relatively poor resistance in inorganic acids. Generally used for manufacturing various sheet metal parts or forgings with low stress working at temperatures ranging from -253 to 350°C. It can also be used to manufacture rivet wire and tubing.
- High purity grade titanium sheet:Applied in semiconductor manufacturing, thin film coating, and research and development of new materials in some universities and colleges.
More About Pure Titanium Plate
Industrial pure titanium plates are generally melted more than twice in a vacuum consumable electrode arc furnace. Based on their impurity content, the interstitial impurity elements in Gr1, Gr2, Gr3, and Gr4 industrial pure titanium plates gradually increase. Consequently, their mechanical strength and hardness also increase step by step, while their ductility and toughness correspondingly decrease.
Gr2 titanium sheet is commonly used in industry due to its moderate corrosion resistance and overall mechanical properties. For applications requiring higher wear resistance and strength, Gr3 or Gr4 titanium plates can be used. For applications requiring better formability, Gr1 titanium plates can be used.
Gr1 titanium plate is a non-alloy, low-strength titanium product with low oxygen content, providing high formability. This titanium material is used for airframes, heat exchangers, and desalination units.
Gr2 titanium plate is a non-alloy, medium-strength titanium material with good weldability and corrosion resistance.

What is your processing about manufacturing pure titanium sheet?
- Hot Forging of Titanium Plates: This forging process is carried out above the metal’s recrystallization temperature. Hot forging allows titanium plates to achieve excellent plasticity and high strength, while also improving their internal microstructure.
- Hot Rolled: This process involves rolling the titanium at temperatures above its recrystallization temperature. Hot rolling imparts good toughness and plasticity to the titanium plates. It also significantly reduces their thickness to achieve the desired dimensions.
- Cold Rolled: This rolling process is performed at temperatures below the metal’s recrystallization temperature. Cold rolling significantly enhances the strength and hardness of the titanium plates, while also providing superior surface quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Annealing: This is a heat treatment process in which the metal is slowly heated to a specific temperature, held for a sufficient period, and then cooled at a suitable rate (usually slow cooling, sometimes controlled cooling). Annealing eliminates residual stresses within the titanium plates, improves their plasticity and toughness, and ensures a more uniform internal structure.
- Pickling: This process involves immersing the workpiece in an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid or other acids to remove surface oxides and other films from the metal. Pickling cleans the surface of the titanium plates, removes oxide layers and impurities, and enhances their surface quality and subsequent processing performance.
Grade 1 titanium sheet is same as Grade 2 titanium sheet, Grade 4 titanium sheet price is higher a bit than them.
