Grade 1 Titanium Sheet application

Application

Grade 1 titanium sheet has the lowest tensile and yield strengths of all titanium grades, while its excellent weldability makes it excellent for a wide variety of applications. We can slit Grade 1 titanium sheet into Gr1 titanium strip to meet different width specifications on request. In addition, due to its good formability, Grade 1 titanium sheet is easy to bend and crimp, and is therefore often used in the manufacture of titanium welded tubes, titanium welded pipes and fittings, titanium bellows, as well as plate, frame and tube heat exchangers, among other products.

In addition, THT’s Grade 1 titanium sheet has excellent stamping properties, making it suitable for a variety of titanium stampings, which are widely used in the aerospace, chemical, and medical industries. With minimal impurities and low chemical reactivity, Grade 1 titanium sheet is also used as a substrate for titanium anodes and cathodes in electrolysis, desalination, and other electrochemical applications.

Production Control

Grade 1 titanium sheet has a lower impurity content than other titanium grades. Starting with the selection of raw materials for production, we strictly choose high purity titanium sponge and effectively remove dissolved impurity elements from titanium through high vacuum smelting (VAR) technology. During this process, we strictly control the temperature and environmental conditions to ensure that the smelting is carried out in an inert gas environment to avoid nitrogen and oxygen in the air from reacting with the titanium and minimize the intrusion of oxygen and nitrogen, thus reducing the impurity content.

In the heat treatment stage, we adopt strict temperature control management to minimize the dissolution of oxygen, nitrogen and other impurity elements to ensure the high purity of titanium plates. Throughout the production process, we strictly follow international standards such as ASTM B265, ASTM F67 or ISO 5832-2 as required by our customers, to ensure that each batch of Grade 1 titanium sheet meets the high standard of quality and satisfies the needs of various high-end applications.

Processability
Grade 1 titanium sheet has good plasticity and machinability, and can be easily formed by cold and hot working, especially suitable for deep stamping. It is available in thicknesses from 0.5mm to 0.8mm, and is suitable for the production of sheet and seals.

Processing Improvement
In order to improve the processing performance and yield of the material, it is recommended to use the “film pressing” process in the processing. This process helps to press the thickness uniformly, reduce the deformation of the material, improve the production efficiency, and ensure the stable quality of the final product.
