Titanium Cathode
THT titanium cathodes utilize high-purity Gr1/Gr2 titanium as the substrate and can be processed into various forms, including titanium plate, titanium rod, titanium tube, titanium wire, titanium basket and titanium mesh. Within electrochemical systems, titanium cathodes are paired with titanium anodes and connected to the negative terminal of the power source. Their surfaces can be left uncoated or coated with mixed metal oxide precious metal coatings to support reverse polarity operation.
Compared to traditional mild steel cathode, our titanium cathodes offer the following significant advantages:
- Superior corrosion resistance
- Weight is only 55% stainless steel’s for equivalent area
- High structural stability with minimal wear
- Excellent electrical conductivity for high electrolytic efficiency

Application
- Electrolytic Copper Production: THT titanium cathode’ surface is prone to forming a continuous, dense, and uniform oxide film, which can effectively promote the uniform deposition and efficient stripping of copper strips, significantly enhancing production efficiency and product quality.
- Hydrogen Production by Water Electrolysis: In PEM water electrolysis technology for hydrogen production, our titanium cathode is used for gas diffusion layer , plays a significant role in the electrolysis process. It ensures efficient transport of reaction gases and liquids, thereby enhancing electrolysis efficiency and stability.
- Sodium Hypochlorite Generator/Salt Chlorinator: Our titanium cathode participates in the reduction reaction throughout the entire electrolysis process and is paired with a high-performance ruthenium-iridium coated titanium anode to achieve efficient and stable electrolysis effects. It is widely used in disinfection, water treatment, and other fields.
Titanium Cathode VS Graphite
1. Conductivity: THT titanium cathodes exhibit significantly higher electrical conductivity than graphite.
2. Mechanical Strength: THT titanium cathodes are more robust and durable than graphite, maintaining dimensional stability during electrochemical reactions.
3. Lifespan: THT titanium cathodes do not degrade over time, sustaining performance for years or even decades without depletion, and are fully reusable.
4. Cost: While THT titanium cathodes are more expensive than graphite anodes for equivalent sizes, they remain the preferred choice for electrochemical applications demanding high efficiency and continuous production.

Lithium cobaltate (LiCoO₂)
Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄)
Ternary materials (NMC, such as lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide)
Alkaline batteries (such as AA/AAA batteries): commonly use manganese dioxide (MnO₂).
Lead-acid battery: The cathode is lead dioxide (PbO₂)
Titanium, Stainless Steel, Nickel ,Niobium, Aluminum etc.
If you would like to use in corrosion environment, then Gr1 titanium is better. If you have a strength request, then Gr2 titanium is better.
